Kapok, or ceiba pentandra, is a tropical tree native to Mexico. Kapok trees thrive in the rainforest grow to be quite impressive. They can be 200 feet tall with trunks as wide as 9 feet. Kapok is a deciduous tree and drops its leaves following seasonal periods of heavy precipitation. While the tree is leafless, flowers appear.
