Apr 12, 2012. #2. The mufflers are built the same way as the ms361 is. They have a very restricted exhaust. Theres a thread on here that Lakeside53 did on modding the 361 muffler. See if you can find it. It's an easy mod and works pretty good. Me, I like to uncrimp the muffler and pull the whole baffle system out of the muffler.

Baileys has some good German made carlton bars for $30 that are pretty good IME. Personally I'd rather get deals on bars that are of decent quality. If you break it, bend it, etc, it's not a big deal. If you drop $100+ on a bar, it is a big deal.

The 260 may not be the worst, but it may be one of the most overrated. The air "filter" truly is a P.O.S. Stihl had far too many years to upgrade the 026 platform and address the aforementioned shortcomings.On the 310 the AV was much more flexible and is constructed different. On the 352 one AV spring is actually connected directly to the motor. The 352 actually felt much stiffer and as if it's really not the same build as the cheaper 310. Based upon today's results my thinking is the cost difference between the cs 310 and cs 352 is justified.Also I think it works better hooking up to a choker on the log. I have pulled 20' long 24" Douglas Fir logs, 10' long 30" maple and Douglas Fir logs, side hill down hill and on the flat. The newer Lewis winch is lighter weight then the older ones. And in a couple days it is going to be a modded huge belly bar 7900. I have 1 guy running a 42 inch bar with skip tooth chain on a modded 7900 with no problems. Most of the time he runs a 24 inch but when the tree gets that big he uses the 42 inch bar instead of buying a bigger saw.
